When Daniel and his classmates accidentally gain superpowers during a classroom activity, the story takes an exciting turn. But what I loved most was how the powers didn’t magically fix their problems. Instead, they highlighted the personal and social challenges these kids were already facing. The mix of their everyday lives—filled with hardship and hope—with their newfound abilities made the story feel both grounded and wildly imaginative. Woodland’s portrayal of life on Colliery Row is unflinchingly honest but never bleak. He captures the resilience and humor of the community, balancing darker themes with moments of levity and hope. The dialogue is sharp, the characters are well-rounded, and the setting feels vividly alive. It’s not just a backdrop—it’s a vital part of the story, shaping the characters and the challenges they face
